The temples of Paestum are among the best preserved of the Greek world and stand on the plain south of Salerno, near the Cilento coast. It is the longest of the day trips from Naples, and precisely where a private driver makes the difference: one comfortable ride instead of trains and connections.
Pick-ups
Naples hotels, Napoli Centrale, the Stazione Marittima and Capodichino. You can also start from Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast or Salerno: give the exact point in the form.
The route to the temples
We take the motorway past Salerno to Battipaglia, then the main road south. The archaeological area and the museum are close together, and we stop at the nearest permitted point to the entrance you prefer. In summer the sun is strong, so water and a hat help.
Indicative time and distance
From Naples it is about 100 km, roughly an hour and a half each way (indicative, varies with traffic and season). Plan a full day for travel and visit.
Who books it
Archaeology enthusiasts, families and couples on holiday in Campania, cruise passengers with a full day ashore, and visitors who want to combine the temples with a stop at a local dairy farm.
Return and groups
For this route we suggest requesting outbound and return together, with your return time. Up to 4 passengers per car, more cars for groups.
Paestum and the Sele plain
Around the archaeological area lies the Sele plain, known for its buffalo farms and mozzarella. Many visitors split the day between the temples, the museum and lunch nearby, before heading back to Naples in the afternoon. If you prefer, the return can end on the Amalfi Coast or in Salerno instead of Naples: just enter it in the form with your preferred times and we prepare one quote for the whole day.
How to book
The route is already in the form: add date, times and passengers and open WhatsApp. The price is agreed before departure. If you want to stop at a dairy farm or a restaurant along the way, say so in the notes: we add it to the quote and confirm the time with you.
